PBL

Positive Behaviour Learning

At Oxley Park Public School good discipline and effective learning are the result of a partnership between teachers, parents and students. This partnership must strive to create in children an understanding of appropriate public behaviour.

It is a partnership based on shared responsibility and mutual respect.

Parents are responsible for ensuring their children attend school. They share in the responsibility of shaping their children's understandings and attitudes about acceptable behaviour.

Teachers are responsible for the education and care of their students when at school. Their task is to provide the best possible program to meet the needs, capabilities and aspirations of each student. They are also responsible for communicating with parents about the educational behaviour and progress of each student.

As children grow, they become more active participants in the partnership.

When the partnership is based on mutual respect, each partner will support the decisions and responsibilities exercised by the others.

Our three school rules encourage our students to:

Recognising Student Achievement

At Oxley Park we believe that the recognition of student achievement plays a vital role in the development of an effective learning program.

We recognise student achievement through:

Superstars

Students earn Superstar Awards in their classroom by following the five PBL values: be safe, be respectful, be a learner, be green and be deadly. Seven Superstars lead to a Bronze Superstar ribbon, another seven to a Silver Superstar ribbon, a further five to a Gold Superstar ribbon and another five to Diamond Superstar ribbon. We have special reward days at the end of the year depending what superstar level students reach. Our Superstar ribbons are awarded every Monday morning at 9:00am at our whole school assembly.

See our foyer display to see what Superstar level students have achieved.

Caught You Being Good

Students ‘caught' following the school rules are awarded ‘Caught You Being Good' cards. Yellow 'Caught You Being Good' cards go into a class container which has increments of a whole-class reward, determined by each class. Each fortnight, a yellow card gets drawn from each class and students get to spin the PBL spinner to receive a reward. Green 'Caught You Being Good' cards are given to students following the school rules in the playground. These cards go into a barrel in the playground. Four students get drawn out at our fortnightly K-2 and 3-6 assemblies.
